Welcome to the Chickasaw Elementary Science and Math Lab page. We are so excited to have a Science and Math Lab for our students. In the lab, Kindergarten, first and second graders complete experiments, recycle with live worms, investigate, and learn what it means to be a scientist and an engineer. Students use the Engineer Design Process often as they ask questions, imagine, plan, create and improve their work.
Students work on 21st Century soft skills. For example, students are challenged to develop character qualities such as curiosity, initiative, persistence, adaptability, and leadership. Students also approach complex challenges using critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, communication, and collaboration.
In Math Lab 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders also develop skills such as collaboration, persistence, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication as they work with manipulatives to solve real world problems. Math lab time is designed to complement lessons that are being taught in the classroom.
