Prevention and Support: Safe Schools
The City of Chickasaw Board of Education has as its first obligation to provide a safe, secure, and orderly learning environment in all schools and at all school-sponsored activities. (Chickasaw City School Board Policy 3.40)
Weapon-Free Schools
Chickasaw City Schools prohibits the posession of deadly weapons on school system property by anyone other than law enforcement personnel. This includes school buses or the premesis on which a school-sponsored event is held. This policy can be read in its entirety in Chapter 6 of the City of Chickasaw School Board Policy under section 6.30.1.
Drug/Tobacco-Free Schools
The City of Chickasaw Board of Education prohibits the use or posession of tobacco (School Board Policy 3.45), alcohol or illegal drugs (School Board Policy 3.42) in any form by students, faculty, support personnel, or any other person on school property under the control of the City of Chickasaw Board of Education. This includes all City of Chickasaw School System facilities, buses, or premesis used during school-sponsored activities. Additionally, no person shall be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs while on property under the control of the City of Chickasaw School Board or school trips involving students.
Bullying, Harassment, and Suicide Prevention
City of Chickasaw School Board Policy 3.43 addresses these issues concerning employees and/or students. Additionally, the counselors at our schools have programs for students and faculty to aid in the prevention of harmful/hurtful actions. Recent legislation such as: Erin's Law, the Jason Flatt Act, and the Jamari Terrell Williams Act require school systems to educate students and faculties on the dangers involved with bullying and harassment.
Sean Phillips
Mr. Sean Phillips has been in the field of child education for 9 years. He has worked in physical education and special education and is currently the elementary/intermediate school in-school suspension facilitator. He is also the district safety coordinator; he works with the police and fire department to ensure the safety of the students and staff. He served in the United States Navy for 8 years as a police officer, ensuring the safety and security of bases, personnel, and military assets. He has been married for 14 years and has 3 children. He enjoys spending time with his family and spending time in nature.
